Biomorphism, in Greek, “bios” means life and “morphe” means form. As a style of surrealism, biomorphism began in 20th century. Biomorphism is represented in abstract forms or images or patterns, it evokes microscopic life forms, plants, organisms and body parts.
The artists intended to bring a connection between the human subconscious and reality. This brings a flow of expression with respective art medium and material used. The techniques used by the artists were Decalomenia, Grattage and Frottage. The Direct Carving technique was employed in Sculptural treatments.
Some of the famous artists of Biomorphism are Joan Miró, Yves Tanguy, Roberto Matta, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and many more. Some of the artworks of Biomorphism are

Reclining figure by Henry Moore in 1938

Mama, Papa is wounded by Yves Tanguy in 1927

Mother and Child by Barbara Hepworth in 1934

Harlequin's Carnival by Joan Miró in 1924
Biomorphism is an important theme in Surrealistic art and there are many artists today who implement this art form.

Thanks for the comment Cathy Kennedy. The designs and patterns is definitely inspirational. Yes, it's good to learn about art movements and historic art works, maybe we'll implement it in our future creations 🙂
Abstract art is generally a bit too contemporary for my taste. That being said, I value the influence and exposure to my brain. I want to grow an artist. Who knows maybe I'll find inspiration in these designs. :) Be safe and sound, my friend!
